Das norwegische Label Dark Essence Records hat die ebenfalls norwegischen ATROX unter Vertrag genommen, einen Veröffentlichungstermin für das fünfte Studioalbum der band gibt es aber noch nicht.

Die Band kommentiert den Zusammenschluss mit Dark Essence und gibt den Fans einen Einblick in das was sie von der Band nach acht Jahren Pause erwarten dürfen:
"It's finally happening, the moment we all have been waiting for, the moment when all the hard work finally pays off... We're proud to announce that we have joined forces with Dark Essence Records, and together we will release our next album "Monocle".

"Monocle" is our darkest album so far. During the process of creating and recording it we explored, and were exposed to, our darker selves, and what we encountered during this process almost killed us. It left us in a dystopian vacuum and all worn out, but with one hell of a piece of music to present to the world.

"Musically speaking "Monocle" contains poisons that'll blind you, and poisons that'll open your eyes.

As William Gibson says in his novel "Neuromancer“: "The future is already here. It’s just unevenly distributed.”

Gegründet wurde die Band 1988 in Trondheim, Norwegen. Zuerst war man unter dem Namen Suffocation unterwegs bevor man sich 1990 in ATROX umbenannte. Zuerst spielten die Norweger einen atmosphärischen Mix aus Death und Doom Metal, nach diversen Demos und Liveauftritten folgte 1996 die erste 7" "Silence of Echoes". Im Laufe der Jahre kamen noch vier Studioalben und unzählige Liveauftritte bei Tourneen und Festivals dazu.

Die heutige Besetzung besteht aus Rune Folgerø(Vocals), viNd(Guitars), Rune Sørgård(Guitars & Technology), Tor Arne Helgesen(Drums) und Erik Paulsen(Bass). Ihre Musik nennen sie "Schizo" Metal, sie unterscheidet sich etwas vom Ursprungssound, ist melodischer und hat einen Experimental/Avantgarde Einschlag.
