THE OMEGA SWARM, eine atmosphärische Death-Metal-Gruppe aus Deutschland, startete 2022, sehr bescheiden, sehr zurückgezogen. T., bekannt durch die Veröffentlichung von bisher vier fantastischen Alben mit Sulphur Aeon, hatte keinen vollwertigen Live-Act im Sinn, als er frühe Demos komponierte und das Grundgerüst seiner – damals noch namenlosen neuen Kreatur – formte. Im Herzen ein wahrer Schöpfer, liebt T. die akribische Arbeit an Riffs, Tönen und Klängen, den Abenteuergeist, Ideen zu entwickeln und umzusetzen, und experimentiert mit seinen beliebten Gitarren und Synthesizern, um erstaunliche Vibes und Songs zu erzeugen, die bedeutungsvoll und doch extrem sind. melodisch und dennoch harsch und kraftvoll im Debütalbum von THE OMEGA SWARM, einer Platte, einem Zeugnis, das sich dem Wesen der Kunst selbst widmet.

So bodenständig T. ist, ist er nicht der Typ Mensch, der sich an eine Klangformel hält, sondern nach „etwas mehr“, „etwas anderem“ Ausschau hält. Nachdem er festgelegt hat, was Sulphur Aeon vorerst mit dem monumentalen „Seven Crowns and Seven Seals“ aus dem Jahr 2023 zum Ausdruck bringen wollte, konzentriert er sich derzeit hauptsächlich auf THE OMEGA SWARM, und die Besetzung der Band wird durch Sänger Christian Schettler (bekannt durch seine Arbeit bei Wound) und Schlagzeuger Max Scheefeldt (ex Misanthrope Monarch) harmonieren perfekt. Musikalisch entstand THE OMEGA SWARM aus T.s Experimenten mit rhythmischen Mustern, Synthesizerschichten, ausgefeilten Leads und etwas technischeren Riffing-Strukturen. Die einzigen offensichtlichen Parallelen zu Sulphur Aeon sind wohl die Betonung einer dichten, fesselnden Atmosphäre, epischer Elemente und einer übergreifenden Dunkelheit sowie die Erkenntnis nach Abschluss ihrer ersten Aufnahmen, dass auch THE OMEGA SWARM die Qualität in sich tragen, mehr zu sein als nur "Schlafzimmerprojekt".

Conceptually, the group abandons eldritch Lovecraftian horrors in favour of straight-forward apocalyptic themes. No matter if it is a virus, vicious bacteria, mad dictators, climate change, religious and political ideologies, corrupted technology, terrorism or war, mankind has marked itself for extinction – in shiny neon colours to make even an alien species galaxies away see what fools we truly are. “Humanity cannot agree on a common truth, let alone a strategy for solving its manifold problems”, Chris explains, “and thus does not form a unity at all. Das Schweizer Black-Metal-Duo ERNTE hat die Veröffentlichung seines kommenden Albums „Weltenzerstörer“ sowie die Veröffentlichung eines Videos zu ihrer ersten Single „Ruler of Chaos, Bringer of Storm“ angekündigt. Das Album soll am 7. Juni über Vendetta Records erscheinen.

Nach den beiden Vorgängeralben der Band („Geist und Hexerei“ / „Albsegen“) stellt „Weltenzerstörer“ eine Weiterentwicklung des früheren Schaffens von ERNTE dar, betont dessen melodische und atmosphärische Elemente und bleibt dabei seinen Black-Metal-Ursprüngen treu.

"The cover was created by a graphic designer we came across on social media. His image immediately appealed to us and, in our eyes, fits the album title perfectly: Next to the sea monster, the 'world destroyer', the few humans seem tiny and almost disappear. This world destroyer is also conjured up in a satanic ritual in the form of Leviathan in our first single/video 'Ruler of Chaos, Bringer of Storm', for example.

But Weltenzerstörer ('world destroyer') doesn't just mean the destruction of our earth - the plural 'worlds' is a deliberate choice. The world of sick thoughts. The world of false feelings. The world of consumption, or the world of manipulation. The world of religions, which we all deeply despise.

Weltenzerstörer is not a concept album, yet it can be said in general that the lyrics on the album embody a misanthropic attitude. It is about consciously chosen loneliness and the search for a higher meaning. But it is also an invocation of ancient powers and spirits in order to create new ones with the destruction of today's sick world(s) and to give nature more space again."

Es ist ihr erstes neues Album seit 2019. Zweifelsohne ungewöhnlich, dass zwischen den Alben der Band eine solche Lücke entstanden ist, aber diverse Ereignisse haben dazu beigetragen. Zuerst hatte die COVID-19-Pandemie erhebliche Auswirkungen auf die Musikindustrie und zwang die Band, sich für eine Weile auf andere Dinge zu konzentrieren. Dann wurde beim Gitarristen Rasmus Henriksen ein Hirntumor diagnostiziert. Rasmus hat die Band inzwischen verlassen, um sich zu 100% auf die Behandlung zu konzentrieren. In seine Fußstapfen ist ILLDISPOSEDs ehemaliger Gitarrist Ken Holst getreten. Nun melden sich ILLDISPOSED also endlich zurück, um der Welt zu zeigen, wie diese von Krisen und Anstrengungen gezeichneten Jahre in Musik umgewandelt wurden. "In Chambers Of Sonic Disgust" ist voller Wut und Frustration und das ehrgeizigste und kreativste ILLDISPOSED-Album aller Zeiten!

Leider ist der Osloer Plattenladen nun abgebrannt. Er wurde bis 1993 unter dem Namen „Helvete“ von Euronymous geführt, die Location wurde 2013 gekauft und als Neseblod Records neu eröffnet. Neben dem Plattenladen diente der Shop auch als Black Metal Mekka. Die heilige Wandbeschriftung blieb laut Miteigentümerin Grete Neseblod via Instagram unbeschadet.

Es wurde eine Spendenkampagne gestartet um den Wiederaufbau zu unterstützen.

Agostino Arrivabene und Jose Gabriel Alegría Sabogal waren für das Artwork und Yurii Kazarian von Into the Abyss Design war für das Layout zuständig. Aufgenommen wurde in den Promethean Forge Studios von März 2022 bis Januar 2024.

» Das größte Plus der neuen Platte ist aber der verdammt starke Sound, so hammermäßig gut klang die Tennessee Combo noch nicht, kein hohes Geklöppel bei der Snare, kein dünnes Getackere bei den Kicks, nein sondern, fett, FETT, FETT wird hier geliefert, cooler Gitarrensound obendrauf und alles selbst produziert von Mike Bailey. Textlich ist man sich auch treu geblieben und findet nach wie vor genug Inspiration in den Geschichten aus dem "dunkelsten Zeitalter", welches sich ebenfalls in der Covergestaltung wiederspiegelt, dabei handelt sich im Original um ein Kunstwerk von José de Brito.
